Galerija Centrs has closed the last year with success and improved sales figures
The past year 2024 remained a challenging one for shopping centres around the world as they looked for opportunities and ways to create new shopping experiences for their visitors. “Thanks to the implemented strategy, Galerija Centrs has closed the last year with success and improved sales figures.
🏆The number of visitors to the shopping centre has increased by 3% compared to the previous year. This increase is due to the opening of a unique store such as ARKET, the only one in Latvia, as well as the creation of BURZMA, a flavour and event space, which continues its success story and remains a popular destination for visitors. Also at the end of last year, KOSMOPARK, a space-themed amusement park, was opened, offering an exciting experience for families with children in the heart of the Old Town.
🏆 New leases and extensions were signed on 8,772 square metres, 45% of the centre’s leasable area, while renovations and improvements took place on more than 2,000 square metres.
🏆 Galerija Centrs also constantly provides unique experiences and events for visitors to the centre. For example, at the beginning of the year, the Venice Biennale Art Exhibition opened, followed by a never-before-seen environmental installation “Common Table”, which aimed to reduce loneliness in society. In autumn, Galerija Centrs launched a social campaign in collaboration with the Society Integration Foundation to reduce inequality in society, and the year was rounded off with an impressive four-storey Christmas gift shelf on Rīdzenes Street and the opening of the POP UP store “Stāsti/Stories”, which brings together a broad spectrum of Latvian creative industries – around 50 brands from fashion and design to jewellery and perfume.
“When I took over the management of this shopping centre, I was aware of the challenges inherent in the location and layout, but now I can confidently say that with the strategy in place, the future of this shopping centre is secure and confident. The MyFitness sports club will open soon, the RIMI retail space will be expanded and refurbished by the end of the year, and other new stores are expected to open. We will also implement various sustainable initiatives and we foresee changes to the existing Galerija Centrs brand in the future,” says Lāsma Vilande, Manager of Galerija Centrs.
Galerija Centrs is still contemporary! Since 1938!
